#SmileLikeKay Gift Boxes for the PBMT Unit at Duke Children’s

Bring a smile to the faces of children staying in the Pediatric Bone Marrow Unit at Duke Children’s Hospital by sponsoring a #SmileLikeKay box. Our family has a deep connection to this unit, where both of our sons received bone marrow transplants in 2017 to combat the progression of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD), a condition that tragically affected our beloved daughter, Kay. Kay was adored by the staff on this unit, and in her memory, these boxes are our way of sharing joy and hope with children who are enduring tough, isolated hospital stays.

Each #SmileLikeKay box is filled with items designed to bring comfort and happiness, including toys, coloring books, puzzles, crayons, markers, stuffed animals, holiday decorations, fun games, fidgets, and more. When we sell more than the 17 boxes needed for each room, we use the extra funds to provide gift cards for families, allowing them to order meals through Uber Eats or DoorDash. Occasionally, we can also include Starbucks or Amazon gift cards.
